Krabi is a year-round destination, but the experience changes a lot from month to month. If you're planning island-hopping or a private longtail boat tour, the timing affects the weather, how calm the sea is, water clarity for snorkeling, and how busy the islands feel. Here's a simple month-by-month guide to help you choose the best time to visit Krabi.

Krabi's two seasons at a glance

  • High (dry) season — November to April: sunny skies, calm seas and the clearest water for snorkeling. The peak months are December to February.

  • Green (low) season — May to October: warm weather with short tropical downpours, lush green scenery, fewer crowds and lower prices.

November to April: the best months for island hopping

This is the classic time to visit. Seas are calm, skies are blue, and visibility underwater is at its best — ideal for the 4 Islands tour and the longer crossing to the Phi Phi Islands. December and January bring the most reliable sunshine, so they're also the busiest and most popular for photos.

March and April: hot and lively

These are the hottest months, with temperatures often climbing into the mid-30s°C. The sea stays calm and beautiful, so it's still a great time on the water — just bring extra sun protection and plenty of water (both included on every Krabi Voyager trip).

May to October: the underrated green season

Don't write off the green season. Rain usually comes in short, heavy bursts rather than all-day downpours, the islands turn brilliantly green, and you'll often have beaches like those on the Hong Island tour far less crowded. Prices are lower, too. Because Krabi Voyager runs private trips, your captain simply adjusts the route around the weather and tides to make the most of the day.

What about the rain?

Even in the wettest months it rarely rains all day, and a private boat gives you the flexibility to set out when conditions are best — usually the morning, when the sea is calmest. Mornings also mean arriving at the famous spots before the larger boats.

A few quick booking tips

  • Book a morning departure for the calmest seas and the best light.

  • Choose a private tour so your itinerary can flex with the tides and weather.

  • Check current national park rules before you go — some areas, such as Maya Bay, can have seasonal closures.

  • The shoulder months of November and May are a sweet spot: good weather with fewer crowds.

Ready to plan your trip?

Whatever month you choose, Krabi's islands are spectacular. When you're ready, book your private longtail boat tour with Krabi Voyager and we'll take care of the rest.

Weather and sea conditions vary year to year; this guide describes typical patterns.
